Dear Noelle
I’m sorry I have been acting this way, and I’m sorry that I hate opening up,
The reason I keep my cards close to my chest is because I hate to give my trust.
I do not want to trust anyone because I do not trust myself,
Everything was shaken up in this year of living hell.
I no longer know who I am, am I kind or am I cold?
There are two people inside this mind contradicting what I’m told.
One lives for the happy life, begging to be free;
The other demands a cold heart, no love, no friends, no family.
My clan has expectations that I know I can’t meet,
So I’d rather say I didn’t try than have to admit defeat.
Their oppressive grasp upon my neck makes my stomach churn to filth,
I cannot bear to tell them this, which is why I live with this guilt.
Because no one knows the real me, God, neither do I;
Because everything anyone knows about me is a misconceiving lie;
I never feel as if anyone will ever love me for me,
I cannot, and never will be able to live for what I cannot see.
