Some memories we hold close
Others we keep distant
Laughing at the happiness
Trying to forget the pain
Memories remain whether we want them gone or near
Some memories captured in photos
To look back on in times of happiness and tears
Memories can be beautiful
But ugly ones still exist
I tried escaping the pain of some of mine for many years
Until one day it hit me
I can’t escape the memories
Each one is part of me
Each one tells a story
A story that needs to be heard
A story that I kept silent for too long
