Violet

Wrinkled skin covered her pleasant face,
Chocolate brown eyes beamed from inside her rumpled skin.
She wore a calm knowing smile,
Her soft, creased hands rested by her side.
Short silver hair fell bluntly to her shoulders.
Fragrant flowers pinned to the side of her head,
Layers of clothing sheltered her frail frame.

She wandered aimlessly through the streets.
Darkness fell but she didn’t seem to notice.
Passers smiled politely but never seemed to care,
She rested idly on a park bench,
Slowly her crumpled eyelids closed over her eyes.

Behind her eyes she saw wonderful colours and images,
Faces and figures swirled around her head.
Just for a second her memories were clear,
Just for a second everything was perfect.
