Quiet River

Quiet, peaceful river your water is so calm,
Beautiful, lonely river I love to dip my arms.
Fishy and feathered friends love to play in you,
I love to swim with them and play with you too.
I ride my boat on top while you’re feeding the fish,
Oh, river thanks to you, you’ve granted my every wish.
The days start getting hotter and then I start to worry,
My friend comes up to me and starts to say sorry.
My river's all dried out, and I start to bawl out- "Why?",
Then my friend exclaims to me that “There’s no need to cry!
Next spring the rain will come and your river will be back,
But right now we’ll head home because we need to hit the sack!”
When I’m content, falling asleep, I’ll tinker in my head,
I’ll think of all those things that my comforting friend had said.
I’ll contemplate and pray that spring comes back here soon;
That the sun brings back my river,
Like the stars bring back the moon.
