Old Friend

The old man stood motionless,
At the grave he stared.
He'd lost his one and only friend,
The only one who cared.

For all the good times and the bad,
All the happy and all the sad.
He'd thought they'd never part,
Now who is to mend his broken heart?

His friend was loving, caring and kind,
He always had an open mind.
His friend never spoke a word,
But his voice didn't need to be heard.

As the old man wished his old mate good-bye,
This was the final tear the old man would cry.
