My eyelids flutter, struggling to open.
My body feels battered and bruised.
I glance at my surroundings,
Houses, roads, everything smashed.
Bodies strewn on the ground
twisted, broken.
There's a strange sound, one i've never heard.
No birds are singing, no dogs barking, no babies crying.
The sound of silence hangs in the air
I try to stand, but my legs are weak, my head spins, I fall.
I call out, hoping, wishing someone will anwser.
Nothing.
I realise I am alone, with no family, no friends, nobody.
I am alone in this world.
