They say you should hold onto it;
Until they pry you cold dead hands from around its neck.
They say that it keeps your heart beating;
Even through your darkest hours.
They say that if there is one thing you should do;
This is it.
But they never say that it will fail you;
They never say that it can rip your heart out and shatter it into a million festering shards;
They never said that hope was false.
