Underneath a Willow Tree

Underneath a willow tree beside a peaceful creek
Sat a girl painting and the picture was unique.
The picture was of two people sitting on a beach,
One was eating an apple, the other a peach.

I walked right up to this talented girl
And asked her how she did it.
She told me to listen to nature
And be really quiet.

We listened for a minute or two.
We listened as birds crooned.
We watched the deer prance.
We laughed as their fawn did a little dance.

Then she told me how she draws.
“From inspiration” – then she paused.
I turned around to go home
To draw in my room all alone.
