I stumbled upon a poetry competition on the web,
I was researching my homework; on an email it had said.
‘Write for fun, write for cash,
Spread your talent, in a flash.’
This was seen as a big opportunity,
For an aspiring writer, such as I, such as me.
With pen in my hand, and head full of thought,
Rhyming and timing is what I so sought.
I considered writing about a political issue,
My cold got the better of me, as I blew in a tissue.
I rethought the competition requirements in my head,
My brilliant idea; to discuss that instead.
Providing a pathway, for young adults’ minds,
Vision and English; my two worlds combined.
My sincere regrets, for any confusion,
And that brings my poem, to a halting conclusion.
