Excitement is brewing, Awake with a Buzz,
A day of canoeing, A new experience foe us.
Packing the gear, tight and complete,
With never a fear, That we would be beat.
Up Stanley River we headed, with relative ease,
The birds, the weather, and natural surroundings did please.
The trip back was different, our muscles felt torn,
We unpacked our gear, under the rising storm.
Day two we awoke, after ceral and soy,
We packed up our camp, to the sound of great joy,
A long hike to the river, Then up Kilcoy creek,
Nature abounded, no one did speak.
A wounded bird, a dingo pup,
A cooling swim, A lunch fill up.
A slow trip home, Along the creek,
Time to reflect, over the next few weeks.
A canoeing trip, the best in my life,
Duke of Edinburgh is cool, Keeps me out of strife.
