Jungle Secrets

We set the sails, with heads held high, our quests and dreams in tow
Simple men, against the sea, with tide the only foe.
We fought against her elements; our oars did cut her seas
But these scars were soon forgotten, like our twisted destinies.
With murdered legs, we took first strides, our feet on foreign land
And we danced and sung old melodies, our toes dipped in the sand.
As we tore through her jungle’s heart, with blades to cut our way
Our minds were cursed with troubled begs, which pride dared not to say.
Nature’s mask had tricked us all, her beauty was to smite
The thickest walls that made this hell, had made the daylight night.
Her darkness had consumed me, till all sanity was lost
Her whispers sweet inside my ears, came at my comrades’ cost.
While Mother Nature fed my fears; I screamed among the mud
Giving back her jungle, all its slaughter and its blood.
Here among the withered trees, we lay alone and rotten
Our souls were once of sweeter things, now bitter and forgotten.
