Lest We Forget
Lurking in the dark of night,
They hear the enemy call
It now is time to start the fight
That could bring an end to all.
They align to shoot, each cannon and gun
And pull the pin on each grenade.
Not a single man shall turn to run,
They must end this great charade.
Far from there the women pray
For their husbands and their sons -
That they shall live another day
And that the war shall soon be won.
Many years have passed since then,
And though the iron plaques shall rust,
Lest we forget the noble men
Whose sacrifice has saved us.
