Kissing In The Rain

Kissing in the rain

Our feet splashed in the ocean’s cool water disrupting the calmness of
it. As I ran through the water with Shane trailing right behind me, I
looked up into Summer’s night sky, with its stars shining brightly
over the beach.

“Isn’t it beautiful Shane?” I called back to him, as I lifted a finger
to point toward the sky.

“Not as beautiful as you my love.” He replied, brushing his jet black
hair out of his eyes.

A moment later, I felt a strong arm from behind knock my legs out from
under me, causing me to tip backwards. Just as I was about to splash
into the water, Shane’s free arm caught me, assuring me that I was
fine. Holding me in his arms almost effortlessly, I couldn’t help but
smile at him.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, as he nuzzled his nose against my
ear, and began spinning us around in the ocean’s clear blue water,
with the moonlight reflecting off of it.

I look into his baby blue eyes, that match the color of the ocean, as
he stares back longingly into mine.

I buried my head into his neck and whispered softly so only we could
hear it. “You truly are the love of my life.”

A smile lined the corners of my mouth though I knew Shane couldn’t see
it. Still spinning us in small circles, almost like he were dancing,
he said, “Your the love of my life forever and after.”

When these words escaped his lips, I couldn’t help but laugh lightly
to myself. He began to walk back to the beach, which only took a
minute, since we didn’t stray that far from the shore.

Once we reached it, Shane swiftly set me down, and the sand clung to
my wet feet like magnets.

“Race you back to the car.” I said jokingly, nudging him slightly on
the arm.

“Only if you are ready to…” Before he had time to finish his sentence,
I was already running through the sand, with my hair blowing in the
wind.

“That’s cheating” I heard Shane scream, only a few feet behind me. He
said more, but his words were lost in the wind that swept past me.

I reached the car first, with Shane only seconds behind. “I beat you.”
I said victoriously, putting my hands on my hips.

“Yeah only because you cheated.”

“Ha you still would have lost anyways.”

He looked at me smugly. “I would ask you to race again, but I’m too
tired now.”

We both began to laugh softly, until we felt light drops of water
dripping on our faces. At first I thought it was just my dripping wet
hair, but looking up to the sky I realized it was being to rain.

“You know what I’ve always dreamed of?” I asked tilting my head down
from the sky to look into his eyes.

“What would that be hun?”

“I’ve always wanted to be kissed in the rain.” As I said this the rain
became heavier, almost as if on cue.

“And you know what I have always wanted.” He said, smiling at me. “Is
to make all your dreams come true.”

And at that moment, Shane bent down and kissed me, I felt the heavy
beads of rain drip down our foreheads, passed the bridges of our
noses, and into our slightly open mouths. I felt so alive as Shane
kissed me in the rain, and I almost winced when he pulled away.

We were both breathing heavily and audibly, but we still managed to
smile at each other. We stayed silent for a minute, as the only sounds
able to be heard were the waves crashing on the shore, and the rain
hitting the window shield of his car.

Shane was the one who broke the silence. “I hope all your dreams come
true.”

I blushed, and took a small step closer to him. “If your by my side
then they always will.”

He hugged me, pulling me closer, and pulled my head down to rest on
his chest. Kissing me on my forehead he said, “Well then I guess you
have nothing to worry about.”
