Me at the Vietnam War
As I walk up the plank of the ship
I see my Mum waving with tears in her eyes
The next thing I know I’m in it real deep
I walk on despite hearing her cries.
Vietnam – what have we done?
This war made me think twice
Perhaps instead of killing them all
We should have tried to save their lives?
Vietnam all around me creating new fear
I’m all set to go – to fight for my country.
A bullet! I curve too late it got me
In hospital it’s soup they dish to me.
I recover quite well and head off home
My body feels every ache and pain
It’s a miracle I survived that war
I tell my Mum I will never roam again.
