Rapunzel

There once was a poor couple
Named Mary and Able
They lived next to a witch
Who made Mary twitch.
But once she saw the Rapunzel lettuce
(Over the brick wall)
It made her say
It made her bawl
I must have that lettuce, some or all
Over that huge, humungous, great big wall
Able, get me some!
Get me some so I can fill my tum!
And Able uttered,
I cannot, love,
I will surely fall off.
I do not have the wings of a dove.
I do not care,
Just go, go, go!
I am sure the witch is out,
So she will not catch you, no, no, no!
So Able climbed over the wall
For the lettuce for his wife
He chose a few
And brought out his pocket knife.
Then he heard a creak and a bang
As soon he was about to go.
Then he saw the witch with her gang
Faces as white as dough.
What are you doing with my Rapunzel, dear?
The mean witch asked.
Take it all, but if you have a baby, give it to me,
She tasked.
Then Able ran home
To tell Mary
She congratulated him on meeting the witch
It sounded quite scary.
Five years later
Mary had a child
She was very cute
And she always smiled.
Mary was very sad
About giving her away
She managed it in the end
But she missed her everyday.
The witch called the girl Rapunzel
When she was about three.
She was named after the lettuce
What an awful witch was she.
When Rapunzel was 12
The witch locked her in a tower
And left her with only some
Food and a flower
She cried out for help
She yelled out in fear
I want my mother, she said
I want her right here!
For six long years
She lived in the tower
She wanted to escape
She wanted to have power
One Autumn’s day
She started singing
She could be in Idol
It was like a bell ringing.
The prince of Zoosh
Was out with his horse
He heard Rapunzel
It was like an attractive force
He galloped to the tower
In such speed
And when he saw Rapunzel
He almost peed.
He circled the tower
For a window or door
But all he could find
Was an old apple core.
I’ll get you down, my maiden
I’ll get you down from there!
All you have to do
Is throw me your hair!
And Rapunzel
(who had VERY long hair)
Grabbed all of it
And threw it down there.
And the prince of Zoosh
(who was a VERY good climber)
Climbed up there
With 20 seconds on the timer!
Rapunzel told him
Who the witch was
And what she was doing to her
And what was the cause
Then the prince of Zoosh
Had a brilliant idea
I’ll bring you knitting tools everyday
And you can knit a huge laddea!
So Rapunzel threw down
Her long golden hair,
And agreed with the prince
About the huge ladder.
But while he was gone,
The witch came along and called,
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!
And down the hair Rapunzel hauled.
Once the witch had climbed to the top,
She cut off Rapunzel’s plait.
Rapunzel was horrified,
But that was that.
Then she was sent out of the tower
To walk on the track
But she didn’t want to walk
She wanted to go back
Meanwhile, back at the tower
The witch was tying the hair to a hook
She was going to throw it to the prince
The evil old crook
10 minutes later
The prince came
With some wool and flowers
Which sounds a bit lame.
Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!
He called.
And down the hair
The witch hauled.
And the prince of Zoosh
(Who was a VERY good climber)
Climbed up there
With 20 seconds on the timer!
The witch cackled and said
I’m no girl, prince of Zoosh!
And pushed him off,
Right into a thorn bush.
A great big thorn
Got stuck in his eye
He was going to give up
When he passed a Mediterranean fruit fly
Then he heard something.
It was Rapunzels singing!
He could tell by the familiar bell ringing.
She saw him too
And ran over
She hugged him
While holding a clover
They got married
Two years later
And found a nice cottage
Away from the equator.
