Going To High School

At first, when it was far away,
I couldn’t wait for the first day.
Now it’s closer, I’m not sure
What life at high school has in store?
Will I fit in? Make lots of mates?
What lies behind those school gates?
Going from a big fish in a small school
To the deep end of the pool.
Mum says, “Be yourself, it’ll be fun,
Being afraid, you’re not the only one.”
So I’ll take a deep breathe and go for it,
Take it all in, every single bit.
With my head held high and a cheeky grin,
My high school adventure will begin.
