Love you neighbour as yourself,
Be strong in weakness and in health,
Do not fear what will take its toll,
Do not fear those who can kill the body but not the soul…
Take what you need,
Not what you want,
Pray with the humble as they plead,
Open your world to the minds of others,
Don’t commit adultery, but be kind lovers.
Beautiful virtues,
Or sinister lies?
For the thing we love most,
Are our own petty lives…
Your neighbour’s dog barks,
You sue them in court,
You cry in your bed,
From nerves strung taught…
Swiftly coming is the inevitable,
You stop and believe it’s avoidable!
Death you truly and greatly fear,
But without such a thing are we even truly here..?
