One night long ago,
In a place far from here,
A young girl looked in a mirror,
And tried to face her fear.
A fear that was astounding,
Of mystery and dark,
But on that stormy night,
She reached a happy spark.
She had the strength to tell him,
What she really felt,
She had the courage to tell him,
With what she had dealt.
She no longer lingered,
In the shadow of the day,
She didn’t have to wait,
Now that she wasn’t his prey.
She told him what she knew,
So he told her what he thought,
She told him it again,
And he learned the lesson that she taught.
The teaching she had accomplished,
Was amazingly hard to teach,
She was free now,
For it was her goal she had to reach.
She could now leave this place,
And go somewhere better,
Because she had cured her fear,
And it only took one letter.
She addressed it to her pupil,
For the lesson he had learned,
Everything in this letter,
He had well and truly earned.
She left our hateful world,
On this dark and stormy night,
She left this terrible place,
And went into the light.
So one night long ago,
In a place far from here,
A young girl looked in a mirror,
And faced her biggest fear.
It was still astounding,
But of no mystery or dark,
For on that stormy night,
The girl found that happy spark.
