A dream of life
My eyes are lost in the sky as though comprehending blue for the first time, with time itself veering completely off track, as with discrepancy I struggle to walk along mine;
The untamed weeds bow in whispers beneath my feet as I stray farther away from unremembered memories;
Fields of red bloom on my right as flowers wither on my left and left I am without consciousness of direction.
Tears fall like rain falls, bringing into existence a whirlpool of past happenings beckoning me to drown;
My heart beats to no particular rhythm as I helplessly twirl in perfect circles into a never ending stream of thought, my eyes closed;
My toes curl around the cliff edge as the wind twirls its fingers around my hair daring me to jump.
The sky ripples as the blue fades into a palette of prismatic colours I cannot name;
They are someone else’s fingers wrapped around my own;
In whispers the voice sings to me a forgotten lullaby;
Once again unaware of my surroundings I dance a perilous fall off the edge.
Endlessly still falling as fearlessness permeates through me;
Ashes are to ashes as dust is to dust and I brace myself for the encounter of fate;
Before the ultimatum I close my eyes to instead open wings I had no recollection of and soar;
I wonder if this is life.
And then I wake to ask if this may in fact be the dream.
