The sounds echo in my head
while I lay down on my bed.
The clanging tumult of high-pitched chatter.
I try to turn the volume down.
Impossible mission.
Can you hear the constant sounds
echo in my skull, around and around?
A whispering voice of my own
Praying to be heard
But I listen instead
Silent.
Impossible mission
Do you hear what is coming from your pitiful mouths
“Like I got totally wasted and there was this full on fight.”
“OMG it was just like that episode of Gossip Girl last night.”
A competition of the most inconsequential babble.
I shudder.
This is our future generation;
they talk but they don’t speak
They hear but they don’t listen
Mission impossible.
