You And Me

You’re over there
I’m waiting here
This isn’t fair
I’m in tears
You’ve got your life ahead of you
So many things you have to do
Fall in love and break some hearts
I’ve needed you from the very start
Your beautiful smile, your loving arms
My nervous talk, my sweating palms
You make your way through the crowd and fear
You ask me for a dance and pull me near
The lights go dim and the music slows down
My head keeps spinning around and around
You ask me if I want to leave this place
Time stands still but time also waste’s
My head says yes but my heart says no
All these decisions, should I stay or go?
Your eyes are shining and your heart is out in the open
You say I can have it until forever as a token
You tell me that I’m perfect and I’m the one
I feel starstruck even though we’re in the sun
I pace myself backwards to the winter night
When we danced in the dark and you held me tight
All of a sudden I fall to the ground
I see you yelling but I don’t hear a sound
It feels like my heart is rolling down a stream
I open my eyes, it was all a dream
