Struggling child awake at night
Torn between truth and façade
Crushed by the weight of decision!
Torn by society’s conviction!
Spiralling down an abyss of doom
From which there is no return.
Performers haunt her dreams at night,
Pressure and study by day;
Her footsteps so light and subtle,
Are haunted, hunted like prey.
To follow the path of a dancer
And leap and caper and soar;
Or settle for studious ambition
Amongst books forever more?
To be or not to be?
One fate, one destiny.
