Technology’s Race
It saddens me deeply,
To see humankind,
Get caught up so quickly,
Worldly ways make us blind.
All so impersonal,
Never face to face,
We talk on the net now,
In technology's race.
Inventions coming out - quick!
In with new, out with old,
IPods, phones and iPads,
Hot items greedily sold.
Snail mail’s so yesterday,
Facebook’s the new fad,
Tell the world about ourselves,
Petty experiences we’ve had.
Type away - hours on end,
To friends we’ve never met,
Proudly grow our names lists,
How many can we get?
These days we run around,
Like busy, buzzing bees,
Our priorities are now skewed,
Hardly see families.
So many new gadgets,
No more room to store,
We’re gaining so much now,
But losing much more.
Looking back I conclude,
I’m sure you’ll agree,
It’s never about ‘us’ now,
It’s all about ‘me’!
