The old house creaking,
Like the old man snoring.
The cracks in its walls,
Like the wrinkles on his skin.
The marks on the ceiling,
Like the age spots on his hands.
The fallen structure,
Like his bones, fallen apart.
The mice inside the walls,
Like the disease in his blood.
The old and musty smell,
Like the clothes he wore.
The loneliness it saw,
Like what consumed him.
The shattered glass
Splintered from the window,
Like his heart
From those that left him behind.
His home.
His only friend.
