I see the trees.
I see the big strong gums wave at me as I walk past.
I see the river.
Smaller than before, it used to be big.
I see the ducks.
As they fly past, the hot, dry sun catches the jade on their wings.
I see the lizards.
I see them scurry past, determined not to be seen.
I see the sky.
The blue is so intense that it nearly burns my eyes to look at it.
I see the fish.
I see them jump out of the water and back in before you can be sure they were there.
Then I see the boat.
It hurtles past in such fury and disturbs all peaceful silences.
Now I walk away.
