War And Peace

War is a horrendous ordeal,
Caused by men’s desire for power.
It is a heart-wrenching feel,
To have someone torn from you forever.
It is worse to hear a groan from the field,
Of a man never again to see his wife,
And it is enough to make you yield,
To know you took his life.
But is Peace the boon,
That it seems to be,
For while no guns sing their deadly tune
Leaders become idle and lazy.
Resentment waits to surface soon,
And when it does, sparks do fly
Death rains in a monsoon,
And once again wives cry.
