Memories

Memories

Memories of you, flying through my mind,
Memories of how I left you behind,
Memories of us, and the love that we shared,
Memories of my feelings, naked and bared.

Memories of him, and his wild, dark eyes,
Memories of pain, a burning deep inside,
Memories of regret, as I see your sweet face,
Memories of how it all fell out of place.

Memories of when you came up to me,
Memories of happiness, and our sanctuary,
Memories of where our beating hearts lie,
Memories of us, beneath the starry sky.

Memories of now, as I write this silly rhyme,
Memories of sorrow, with me all the time,
Memories of my family, who were never with me til the end,
Memories of my life, and the wounds we had to mend.
