Journey To Survive

I begin my journey through the distant mountain ranges,
The ground is ragged and eroded through the ages.
The creatures around me stalk their prey and I see the their bright hungry eyes,
I am cold to the bone, I’ve had no sleep nor food, and life I now despise.
I must be brave for the loved ones I have had to leave,
For those I have left, I grieve.
I have walked for many days and now I’m beginning to tire,
I need to keep going to fulfil my desire.
If I were to continue this torturous journey, I would face certain death,
So I need to strive and savour each breath.
This is much tougher than the daily grind,
I realise that this world is unkind.
