A Dinner Party With The Mice

Through a hole I see,
A mouse's dinner party.
Twenty or so mice dressed in robes and gowns,
Sit at the table watching two silly clowns.
They laugh and chat as they gobble their feast,
And cheer and cry at the tale of a scary beast.
After finishing the last of their wine,
They find a partner and stand in line.
They dance and they jig and jump around,
Tapping their feet to the sound.
After dinner they sit around the fire listening to a round mouse sing.
Then a cuckoo jumps out and squawks its' ring.
Suddenly a mouse spots me watching their fun,
Instead of being frightened, he smiled like a ray from the sun.
