Patriot In The Window

I ride my bicycle from mountain to mountain,
slowly sinking, deeper into the snow
And as I observe from this height
I can see the windmill, but no patriot
Floundering like unsuspecting mammal
Captured and imprisoned in the rain
Silhouetted against the cloudy mist
I feel restrained, with nothing to gain
I stand firm, strong against a tree
Picking at the bark to create symbolic imagery
To map out to travelers;
‘I am an adventurer, seeking fortune and love’
It was so that I took a journey
In a path of discovery
To look from the mountain ranges
At the windmill down below and see the woman staring back
But no patriot glared into the shimmering glass,
that misty eve was condemned and lonely
For the man was in pursuit of a woman far to unjust for him
Her distance grew more vast, cold like the snow
The man was disappointed,
that his fortune had faded into dust
Limb from limb, he lacked the strength,
to call for mother natures trust
Therefore sending his hopes down into the depths of nothing…
…nothing but the carcass of his forsaken love
