things were simple when we were young
only bee's were things that stung
catching snowflakes on our tongue
some much time we cannot handle
life goes out like a flickering candle
we live by quotes we can't sustain
trying to relieve some of our pain
bottled anger we can't contain
and it becomes to much of a strain
scrunched paper like our dreams
what we knew isn't what it seems
as you age stress starts to rise
and a point of time where you hear just lies
and when your down you just give up
enough of your tears to fill a cup
when your arms are crossed by chest
you never think to see how blessed
only how many tears you've cried
you're blinded by the pain inside
when there's only struggle to shade our pain
thinking of how it's us to blame
and taking one step forward then two steps back
and you only think of things you lack
not a song we knew went unsung
breathing crisp air into our lungs
things were simple when we were young
