My Angel

One day I will be a mother,
of children 2 or 3,
And it will probably be then,
That I look up and see,
An angel floating above my head,
My mother it should be.

Mothers weren't put on this earth,
To nag and boss us around,
But to protect us and make sure we knew our way 'round town.
To stand by our side when we were ill,
Or having trouble at school,
When we wanted to knock the neighbour's kid out,
Or scream at the teacher 'cus there is no rule.

They were trained in Special Forces,
Of the angelic realm I'm sure,
Pitty that never shone through when someone slammed the door.
As I grow I'll stop and think about the stress I put that women through,
Yet the way she always let love shine through.
