Excellence Award in the 'Legendary 2012' competition
The deafening sound of gunfire, bullets killing the proud
Soldiers fighting just to make it back home alive
Surrounding the mass destruction, are the bodies of murdered troops
But those that have been lost, will never be replaced.
The trenches stacked high with the corpses of the brave
And the ones that sacrificed themselves for others
Are the ones that lay in the bloodstained sand.
Father and son fighting alongside one another
Watching the death toll rise
The brutality of war shows itself once again
When the bullets go flying and the soldiers fall face down
Buildings being torn to shreds
Beaches being blown apart Fields being obliterated
But who wins war?
No one, but the victorious come out less wounded!
