Volta’s Time In Life

Count Alessandro Volta,
The battery inventor,
Was a fantastic physicist.
He was one of the greatest.
Born in seventeen forty-five
He chose that physics he would thrive.
Became a professor of physics
After learning all the basics.
Then came Luigi Galvani.
Oh, how Volta fought so fiercely,
To prove Galvani wrong, over a
Dead frog, old and gray.
Then in eighteen hundred,
Volta had created
The first working battery
That Napoleon came to see.
Volta finally retired
As a man greatly admired.
Being the wonder of his day,
He died without dismay.
