Watching Mum mix in the pill
It won’t help he’s too ill
We really need to stop his shaking
It’s the last call we’ll ever be making
He’s in Mum’s arms but I need him in mine
I knew someone was saying it’s time
We pushed open the vetinary doors
Help is near but I wanted more
I want the vet to make no error
I could taste the emptiness and terror
His breath is in a gasping pain
I hug him but not in vain
The silver tears rolling down my cheek
Fall onto him he looks so weak
My heart will always ache
Because my God my friend you take!
This poem is dedicated to my dog, Scamp
All that is in the poem is what happened
The night my dog was put down…
