A Hard Day’s Muster
There’s dust in my eyes
The fierce sun pounds its hot rays down on my skin
It’s so bright
All I can hear is the cattle, bellowing out
The dust rises
The horse is sweating
I can feel her damp rump
The dogs are hot and tired
We all need a good drink
I feel as though we won’t live through this hard day
How I’d long to be in the backyard, floating in the pool
There’s no breeze
There’s still a long way to go
There’s dust in my eyes
