The Diary of Captain James Cook
Hi. My name is James Cook. I am a sailor and this is my story.
I was born in England in a small town called Yorkshire. As a boy I was a farmer with my father.
After my school years I worked in a shop but my great love was the sea and ships. When I finally got a full time job, it was on a ship that carried coal.
I rose to be a ship’s officer and in 1755 I joined the navy for the next 15 years. I then got promoted to captain of the Endeavour. I then recruited a group of 16 sailors to join me. I then sailed around the world. I finally lived up to my dream and became the first white man to put a foot on the Eastern part of Australia.
