Death.

Death, you cannot escape,
From this eternal final fate,
The crusher of hopes and dreams,
A million crying, a million scared,
Young children wishing they were dead,

Young wives streaming onto the streets,
Their husbands dead from the war,
Gassed and bombed, burnt and sore,
Wishing they could join their loved ones,
Fearful of what their life would become,

Young men of all ages, covered in flies,
In the trenches, hoping to die,
Dying everywhere, day and night,
Blood and gore, hunger and disease,
People fighting, on the streets,

Guns going off, death all around,
Hiding deep beneath the ground,
People wondering, a soldiers fate,
Young women, being raped,
With Death you cannot escape.
