A Flight With Words

How to write, make a book, make a story, sitting on your bed it comes to you
Like the flutter of a small birds wings
Inspiration, thoughts of thoughts unknown
Like the scuttle of a spider in the dark
Word after word it flows onto the page, filling your mind with joy, and more thoughtful thoughts of ideas
Coming from near and far, filling the page to overflowing
And then it is gone
Just as soon and unexpectedly as it arrived, it goes
You lay back on your bed, wondering, forever wondering; was your time together over, was it time to part ways?
Time to fill another, newer page to overflowing, to find another pair of lips to tell another story
It feels like you are unfinished, just like your thoughts that are drifting away, soaring higher and further…
You feel abandoned, like it was taken away from you, empty at a loss of not understanding.
The part of the page that is blank is staring you down, ridiculing you for not accomplishing it,
For not finishing the job you came to start, forever not knowing the finish to that most wondrous tale
Never knowing, never finished
Unlike the way an elephant lumbers through a forest, the thump of its feet on the floor
Beats the heart, your heart that holds the child you adore.
Your life, a new life… years have passed, making it harder to forget
The deep etched lines of your face tell a story that the untold words never could,
A story of ages and loves, and time passing you by,
Dreams of a pastime once forgotten, of which you are forever being reminded
Then it comes to you once more, after so many years, you are reunited. Going on a second journey, to fulfill the one you started.
Spoiled and toiled with a dream, a dream of a lost life, a lost love.
