Mind's Trap

I sit here with so many questions dancing in my head,
Wondering about the life I have so far lead,
Remembering the ghosts of the past,
And planning the dreams for the future to cast.

There are so many what ifs, whys and buts,
Maybe I would see where I am going if I clean out the dust,
For my mind is filled with a cloud of confusion,
But I know to every question in life there is a solution.

At times I feel that I'm falling into a dark and endless emptiness,
Self doubt and unknowing can be a very strong temptress,
But I can't allow myself to run away like a frightened child,
For if I do I've lost my soul and myself inside.

The mind can make you wise with the knowledge it keeps,
But it can also send you spiraling into a madness sleep,
So here I must sit with these questions lingering in my head,
As I will not hide but forever search for the answers instead.
