Misunderstood Love

As the sun set beyond the grassy hills, I waited.
As the glistening moon shone with the stars, I waited.
As the night was consumed by the light of day, I waited.
I have waited for you for a lifetime.
And now you have come, at last you have come.
But you do not see me as I see you.
My heart falters when our eyes meet, but yours doesn't miss a beat.
If only you knew how I feel.
If only you understood love.
