“Elephants on the March”
A herd of elephants is like an army platoon,
Marching together in a group.
The tusks pointing up like rifles.
Ready to defend.
They are the only weapons they have.
Dangerous when needed.
The sound of their trunk, announcing their arrival.
Like their own built in bugle.
Looking for water and a place to camp for the night.
They need to be careful so they walk slowly and quietly.
Ears flapping, listening for the enemy.
Food is scarce, so they ration their supplies.
The grey skin blending in with the bush.
A perfect camouflaged uniform.
Water is top priority for them.
Making sure there is enough to survive.
Marching, to avoid the enemy.
Only the fittest survive.
A herd of elephants is like an army platoon.
