Soldiers dying, guns shooting
Mud in my face, fear in my heart
Armies in our trenches, all experiencing pain
I scan the red mist looking for my allies
Explosions ringing in my ears
Bombers soaring over my head
A bullet accelerates past my ear
And hits my teammate lying behind me
Blood rushed down his body
Tears in my eye
As I discovered I’ve been shot
Why do we all have to revert to violence?
I tell myself I’m not going to die
Soldiers and soldiers surround me
I say goodbye but I don’t think they heard it
Why do we fight? WHY?
