The memories are bruised,
Made dark by what you've done.
Only you can change the way I see them.
I feel like I've been used
But I'm not the only one
They told me bout the way you treated them
We thought you were the one
To take all our pain away
But you were
Fake as fools gold
We thought you'd be the light
To guide us through the dark
But you were
Fake as fools gold
You told us you'd be there
To wipe our tears away
But then you left us hanging by a thread
At least we're here to share
It won't happen again
We'll warn the girls bout messin with their head
We thought you were the one
To take all our pain away
But you were
Fake as fools gold
We thought you'd be the light
To guide us through the dark
But you were
Fake as fools gold
We won't let this won't happen again
Not so long as we all live
We thought you were the one
To take all our pain away
But you were
Fake as fools gold
We thought you'd be the light
To guide us through the dark
But you were
Fake as fools gold
