Dear Child

When Daddy gets a job you can buy that new sweater
when Mummy's no longer sick everything will be better.
Soon Dear child
you can smile and play and laugh like the rest,
Dear child hear my words
darling Mother knows best.

But Daddy never got a job
and Mummy never got better
eyes empty as she lay still
paler than ever
A single tear falls from shattered glass
tragedy a lifetime may never pass.

A bloody gore through a heart so free
empty of faith love and glee
Her words replay over again
no pause or stop and never an end.

Maybe not now
Maybe not ever
But soon Dear child
everything will be better.
