Empty Pages

Empty pages,
Of a story untold,
A lifetime of memories,
That will never unfold.

A child that was meant to be held,
And swept away would've been their tears,
Now there's a mother inconsolable,
Weeping over unlived years.

A pain deep and raw,
A father calls 'only mine',
Never to be erased,
Or dulled over time.

Yet even as they cry,
For a child this world has lost,
A different notebook is being filled,
With a different pen and a different plot.
