A gentle hand, a miniscule little shake
It's morning time, dear, are you awake?
Dressed in long clothes, breakfast to eat
Cars all packed, we're strapped in our seat.
Tides wait for no one, we mustn't be late
We have to be early and catch some bait.
Turn off the bitumen and in four-wheel drive
All full of excitement, it's great to be alive,
Over the last Sand hill, what a lovely view!
The ocean's colours sparkle white, green and blue.
Running and racing, legs sinking below the mud
It's great to spend a day like this with a close 'bud'
Competing and counting, who has the best catch
Slightly less friendly as the game turns to a match.
Twelve hours later the cars packed to leave
Nothing was caught, but no need to grieve
It's been a good day, but the end has come
Everyone's burnt from the hot Pilbara sun.
Tired yet satisfied, we jump back in the car
Our long drive back home seems half as far
Swimming, fishing, playing in the hot sand
Eating, drinking, birds feeding from our hand.
Put all of them together all rolled into one
Makes such days like these one happy family fun!
