I Love You

When I first laid my eyes on you I wondered who you were
Tall, quite, mysterious, I wanted to learn more
I saw all around the school, not with anyone just your self
You looked lonely and sad and more sparks went off
I remember when I first saw you smile, I was shocked
But quickly as the shock had come your smile melted my insides
It was so warm and happy; I wanted you to smile more
As the months went by I saw that smile, I vowed to be your friend
As we changed classes, I met you in the stair way
I turned right to get out of your way and you moved left
A few more attempts to get out of each other’s way, we finally did so

After a year I did become your friend
I saw you smile more often and loved it every time
One day I was depressed so I hid the corner of the piano room
You walked in and sat down and said ‘oh my god’ when you saw me
You told me you would have normally jumped if someone surprised you like that
I guess you just knew I was like a ghost
We changed to the band room where the piano was better
I listened as you played, you looked over to me and asked if I wanted to learn
You taught my first piano song, then the second and the third
Because of you I still play now, but I miss playing at the same time you do

Everyone says we’re brother and sister though it sort of makes me sad
For I know that that’s the closest I’ll ever get to being with you
When girls think that I’m your sister they think I won’t mind
They’ll talk about what they’d do with you if they ever get the chance
It takes all my strength to not knock them flat
I just say that you’re my brother and I want you to be with someone great
It’s now the third year that I’ve known you, and it will be the last
For next year you won’t be here, you would have graduated
I will miss you and miss hearing you play
Everyone will probably still call me your sister, so I can be close to you that way
But I don’t think I’ll get over you, for you see,
I always knew that from the moment I first lay my eyes on you…
I loved you
