Family Comes First

FAMILY COMES FIRST
BY: Amelia Palu
There is a tree where I stand.
I wonder how it all began.
I’m a small branch of this broken tree,
Trying to discover the real me.
We grew together but some became bitter,
Some branches are falling apart,
Leaving scars on my heart.
Through the rain, I see their pain,
That can never be regained,
But I still pray that there’s a better day.
Being the smallest branch is hard,
When you’re trying to be the guard.
But to protect the roots,
You’ll need the truth,
Through the roots of this tree.
I found the real meaning of family.
