I am sure in life I will need,
To know that negative-five plus eight is three,
And that a half times nine plus seven,
Is eleven and half, not eleven.

I am sure in life I will need,
To know in six-eight time there are two beats.
Or that Bach made over a thousand pieces,
And that a crescendo means sound increases.

I am sure in life I will need,
To know the where Paris sits in degrees.
That the tallest giraffe is five-point-eight metres,
And that a ‘sea-pig’ is a real creature!

Do I really need have all this stuff in my head?
Or will it just pile up, until I’m dead?
Well for now I will consent to learn and learn,
To my textbooks I must return!
